In the 1950's, Martinsburg was a great place to be a kid. There were two places to buy fresh, homemade chocolates, Mr. Ryan's and The Sally Shop. Hardly a day passed when we didn't find a few cents and sneak off to Mr. Ryan's for some special treats. Times changed. The Sally Shop and Mr. Ryan's both disappeared from the local landscape.

In 1987, Classic Chocolates was founded to restore this decades-old tradition to our town. To learn as much as we could about the art of candy making, we went straight to the legend himself. Armed with the knowledge that Mr. Ryan passed along to us, we set out to make the perfect chocolate confections we loved as children.
